Big news folks! Today Sigma CEO Yamaki announced the new Full Frame L-mount Foveon camera will be launched in 2020 and not in 2019. And he also added the camera will have a 60,9 Megapixel Foveon sensor!
This is actually a 20MP FF sensor but because it has three layers Sigma says the total Megapixels will be 60,9. Here is an image of the new sensor:
They also announced a partnership with TSI for the development and production of the new FF Foveon sensor:
Sigma CEO Hirai said the development of the lens is almost done and final testing started.
