The Lumix S1RII launch got delayed…

A trusted source told me that the Lumix S1r successor launch got delayed. We now can expect this camera to be on market by early 2025 only. The same source confirmed this camera will be based on the same Leica SL3 tech, featuring the same 60 MP sensor made by Sony.

The current S1R has an estimated shipment date of 6-8 months. And I think this is exactly when we will get the new S1rII instead.

Panasonic registered a new camera model in China! New S1HII or S1RII coming soon?

On July 12 Panasonic officially registered a new camera model in China. The camera code is “P2403A” and it supports dual-band WiFi + Bluetooth. What this registration means:

  • Usually 2-3 months after the registration a new camera gets announced
  • Dual-band Wifi supports means it’s likely a mid to high end camera

My guess is that this is either a S1H successor or a S1R successor. What do you hope to get?

HOT: Sigma will soon announce a new “intriguing” FF zoom!

Last week I told you that Tamron will soon announce another big zoom lens. Well, two trusted sources have just told me that Sigma will also soon announce a big zoom lens!I have been told that unlike the recent Sigma 28-45mm f/1.8 DG DN Art lens this is more “intriguing” for the masses as it’s NOT a niche lens but an affordable lens that could be interesting for most of our readers.

Will have details soon!

New Panasonic patent discloses a modular box shaped L-mount(?) Cine camera

Ymcinema spotted a new Panasonic patent that describes the design of a sort of modular and box shaped Cine Camera. The patent doesn’t say if this is a Full frame L-mount camera but if Panasonic make this camera I am pretty certain it will be L-mount.

We already have two such Box styled L-mount cameras:

The news here is that on this patent the box camera can use an attachable grip. The goal of this is being able to shoot handheld.

Rumor from China: Panasonic Lumix S1H II to be released in Q4

Chinese Weibo rumor accounts report (Google translated text):

[Panasonic Lumix S1H II may be released in the fourth quarter] According to the latest news, after the release of GH7, Panasonic will update the S series full-frame body. According to previous rumors, Lumix S1H II is among them and is expected to be officially released this year (in the fourth quarter).

My take: Although I don’t have 100% confirmation, I am pretty sure we will have a new S1HII (or S2H) in 2024. And yes, it will probably have all the new features we saw on the GH7, such as ProRes Internal RAW, ARRI C-Log, Lumix LAB support, and so on.

There is also a second rumor circulating that the successor to the S1H will use the same 60MP sensor as the Leica SL3. I am almost certain that this is wrong and that the rumor confuses the successor to the S1R with the S1HII. My sources have told me that the successor to the S1R will definitely use the same sensor as the SL3.

That’s all for today, I hope my trusted sources can give me some information soon about when to expect the next camera announcement!

Panasonic teases a new camera launch for tomorrow (June 5). I am sure it’s the GH7!

Panasonic officially released the teaser for the launch of a new camera on 5 June. So my rumours have turned out to be 100% correct and we will get a new Lumix just two weeks after the Lumx S9. But my sources told me this ain’t’ a L-mount camera or a fixed lens camera: This is going to be the new Lumix GH7 MFT camera!

Don’t worry, there is one more Lumix camera coming sometimes this summer…should be an L-mount model 😉

SURPRISE: New Lumix camera announcement on June 5?

Our reader Jakub sent me a link to a ‘leaked’ information about a new camera. Now, if I shared this link publicly someone would get in trouble and probably get fired. So I’m keeping it under wraps for now, unless some other website publishes it and forces me to report it. In essence, this ‘leak’ tells us this:

  • On 5 June Panasonic will announce a new camera.
  • This camera will NOT be Full Frame

I see three options:

  • It will be a new MFT camera
  • A compact fixed-lens camera (possibly the successor to the LX100).
  • It is an APS-C L-mount (I think this is very unlikely).

We know that Panasonic has registered three new Lumix cameras in China. One is for the new Lumix S9. The other two cameras have yet to be announced. it sounds pretty unusual for Panasonic to unveil a new camera two weeks only after the major S9 announcement. But the “leak” seems pretty accurate to me. I still don’t know what to expect, all I got is info from a new source saying this is a new MFT camera…but this is not a confirmed info yet.
