Panasonic will announce the new Lumix S9 with unique new LUT features on May 22 at 3pm London time!

I just got additional info about the new Panasonic camera that will be announced on May 22 at 3pm London time!

Camera name: “Panasonic Lumix S9”

  • compact Full Frame L-mount camera
  • a bit more compact than Fuji X100VI
  • no integrated EVF
  • 24MP sensor of the S5II
  • dedicated LUT button on camera to select your style
  • possibility to upload your own LUT styles
  • four different body color versions
  • $200-$300 cheaper than S5II
  • Announcement on may 22 at 3pm London time
  • One more product (new lens) will be announced on that day!
  • Curiosity: The Ai design in ny video is a mockup, but I have been told it’s actually pretty close to the real cam!)

The camera is aimed at “content creators” and people who want ot have a very compact camera.

The three cool aspects of the camera are:

1) Compact Size:

The Lumix S9 is just a tiny bit smaller than the X100VI (also because it gets rid of the EV). Yes, you still need to buy an extra lens for it but we have some nice option with the Sigma DG DN contemporary lineup (Click here). Overall this will make it barely bigger than the Fuji.

2) LUT style:

The camera LUT’s capability should also attract those Fujifilm customers that love to use their own film recipes.

3) Price:

Now compact camera lovers can buy the Lumix S9 instead of a Ricoh GR or FujiFilm X100VI. it will have about the same size, about the same price but you get the benefit of higher Image Quality thanks to the use of the excellent 25Mp Full Frame sensor.

My take:
I am not a real “content creator”. I can’t really say if this camera will be a hit or miss. As a photographer I miss the integrated EVF. Still, if this is a camera that you can truly carry always in your pocket…this might be something cool for us photographers too don’t you think?

OFFICIAL: Sigma teaser for the May 16 lens launch event

My rumors were 100% spot on and Sigma launched an official teaser for a May 16 product launch event. Like I told you weeks ago Sigma will announce a new 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DNII. And I already leaked an image of the E-mount version yesterday:

There will be obviously an L-mount version too!

This is the only lens that Sigma will announce on that day. But don’t worry, there is more to come from Sigma soon after!

First LEAKED image of the upcoming Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II lens

I finally got the first image of the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II lens that will be announced on May 16. This is what we know about the lens:

  • Optically improved (better color rendition and sharpness)
  • Lighter and a tiny bit more compact
  • 82mm filter size
  • aperture ring
  • inner focusing
  • L and E mount
  • May 16 announcement

Still don’t have the pricing info but I expect this to cost $200-$300 more than the current version. And, how do you like this lens? Will you buy it?

Panasonic affordable compact L-mount Full Frame camera to be announced within weeks!

According to two reliable sources, Panasonic is set to announce a new affordable full-frame L-mount compact camera. This camera is intended for content creators–which means TikTokkers, Instagrammers and Youtubers. It will be priced lower than this Lumix camera to attract young people and people on a budget.

The camera does not have an EVF, has a fully articulating screen, and is very compact. I have no information about the sensor, but I suspect it will use the 24MP sensor from the S5II. Soon Panasonic will launch a teaser campaign for the launch and we will know on what day the camera will be announced (definitely still in May).

This is not a camera for professional photographers or filmmakers…not a Full Frame version of the extremely beautiful LX100. But don’t be disappointed. I have been told that new cameras will be announced very soon (maybe even in June/July).

So stay tuned 😉
