Design of the 400-800mm lens

A newly patented Sigma patent discloses the design of three Full Frame zoom lenses. One design is for the newly launched 300-600mm f/4.0 lens. The other two designs are for the:

• 400-800mm f/8 (total length of the lens is 447mm)
• 180-800mm f/5.8-8.4 (total length of the lens is 478mm)

That 180-800mm FF lens definitely looks intriguing. Do you think Sigma should bring this to market?

In this interview with PetaPixel, Sigma CEO Yamaki confirmed that they are working on developing pancake lenses for the Sigma BF. He also stated that, although Sigma will not yet be producing an L-mount camera, other companies in the L-mount alliance will be doing so.

Here are the first leaked images of the new Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 APS-C L-mount lens that will be announced on June 17!

This will give you the light gathering capability and bokeh of a classic Full Frame f/2.8 zoom! Impressive!
