LEAKED: Panasonic S9 costs $1499 in the USA and 1699€ in Europe!

I got this additional new info to share today:

Panasonic Lumix S9 Price:

  • $1499 Body 1699€.
  • 26mm is $199

Lumix S9 preorder links (will open on May 22):
S9 at Amazon, BHphoto.

Additional Technical notes:

  • Low rolling shutter
  • Same IBIS and same Image Quality of the S5II
  • All S5II recording features are there! Open Gate and so on…
  • S9 doesn’t have a fan, recording is limited to 10 minutes at 6K and 15 minutes at 4K.
  • not a great location for usbc c and micro hdmi
  • battery looks like blk22 (most likely it)
  • I think 1 slot only (didn’t ask)

Curiosity:

  • LUT button let’s you select your own LUTs.
  • There will be a new LUT App from Lumix
  • no attachable EVF
  • Some features of the S9 coming on S5II in autumn
  • Menu is a more “simpler” version of the S5II menu

My take:
The US price is very ok, even if it’s likely to NOT have the 26mm pancake as a freebie. Specs are solid too. I think I will buy one and you?

Are you considering to buy the new Lumix S9?

Several new leaked images of the Panasonic Lumix S9!

Various sources (Thanks!) sent me images of the new Panasonic Lumix S9 with the 26mm f/8.0 lens. For the first time we see the 26mm lens and also the red version of the S9 (there will be also Black, Green, Blue versions).

And onto his image we see the new LUT button that will allow to quickly select your own styles:

Recap of what we know so far about the May 22 3pm London time announcement:

1) Panasonic Lumix S9 specs:

  • compact Full Frame L-mount camera
  • 24.2MP sensor of the S5II
  • a bit more compact than Fujifilm X100VI
  • no integrated EVF
  • no mechanical shutter
  • no fan
  • fully articulating screen
  • It has IBIS
  • dedicated LUT button on camera to select your style
  • possibility to upload your own LUT styles
  • four different body color versions (Black, Blue, Green, Red)-
  • $200-$300 cheaper than S5II
  • The camera is aimed at “content creators” and people who want to have a very compact camera.
  • There is an additional attachable hand-grip

2) Pansonic Lumix 18-40mm L-mount lens:

  • compact Full Frame AF lens
  • aperture unclear yet

3) Panasonic 26mm f/8.0:

  • manual focus
  • 0,25m close focus
  • Unconfirmed: Comes as FREE lens when buying the S9

New Panasonic 26mm f/8.0 pancake lens coming along the Lumix S9

I have some additional info to share about the new lenses:

  • Both the new 18-40mm compact zoom lens (variable aperture) and the 26mm f/8.0 will only ship in September/October
  • Initially the Lumix S9 will be offered with the Lumix 20-60mm as kit lens.
  • The 26mm f/8.0 has 0,25m close focusing, it’s manual focus only, and sharp in the center
  • The Lumix S9 plus 26mm lens seem to be a tiny bit smaller than the FujiFilmX100VI.

Photographers told me that this combo (S9+26mm) is a joy to use. Truly easy to carry with you and Image Quality is great for street photography. Hopefully Panasonic plans to make also some faster pancakes like the Nikon 26mm f/2.8.

Lumix S9:
Like I told you yesterday I saw the real life camera. I can confirm it has a dedicated LUT button with completely new functionalities. Will do a video about this very soon!
